// vs · Mint (sunset 2024)

Mint shut down. MoneySmith picks up where it left off.

Mint had something like 25 million users when Intuit retired it in March 2024. It was free, bank-sync-first, and beloved as a spend-tracker. MoneySmith is not a Mint replacement in that shape — Credit Karma, Monarch, and Copilot fill the daily-tracker job. MoneySmith is the strategic-blueprint cousin Mint never shipped: a personalized PDF in 5 minutes and an AI coach for the decisions categories alone won't answer.

// when a Mint-shape tool is what you actually need

You want a daily spend tracker, not a blueprint.

  • You loved Mint for bank sync, category budgets, and the bills calendar. That job is what daily trackers are built for.
  • Look at Monarch, Copilot, or Rocket Money — they're the closest in shape.
  • Your job to be done is “keep me on my budget this month,” not “tell me which moves to make this quarter.”
  • Stack one of those with MoneySmith if you want both — they don't conflict.

// when MoneySmith is the better choice

You want a strategic blueprint, not a category dashboard.

  • You already know roughly where your money goes. You want to know which moves to make first.
  • You want an AI coach for ad-hoc decisions (raise asks, debt payoff order, side-income picks).
  • You don't want to log expenses every day or babysit categories — Mint always felt like work to you.
  • You'd rather pay $19 once for a personalized blueprint and decide whether the coach is worth a tier after you see it.

// questions an ex-Mint user asks

Are you affiliated with Mint or Intuit?
No. MoneySmith is an independent product. This page is an honest comparison so an ex-Mint shopper can decide what to use next — not an endorsement, partnership, or attack. Every cell about Mint reflects public facts from Intuit's Mint sunset announcement (March 2024) and contemporaneous coverage; we hedge anything that's drifted.
Will I get a refund if I don't like MoneySmith?
Yes. Every paid MoneySmith plan is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. Email support@moneysmith.one within 7 days of the charge and we refund in full. See /refund for the full policy.
Can I replace Mint with MoneySmith?
Honestly — not directly. Mint's daily job was bank-sync transaction categorization and category budgets. MoneySmith doesn't do that, on purpose. If you want a Mint-shape replacement, look at Monarch, Copilot, or Rocket Money for daily budgeting. Pair one of those with MoneySmith quarterly for the strategic blueprint and the AI coach for ad-hoc decisions. Different tools, different jobs — they stack cleanly.
Is MoneySmith a financial advisor?
No. MoneySmith is a planning aide. We're not licensed financial advisors and we don't give regulated financial advice. For decisions that need a fiduciary (retirement planning, complex tax, estate planning), see a CFP. The MoneySmith blueprint helps you get organized for those conversations.
What happened to Mint?
Intuit announced in late 2023 that Mint would shut down on March 23, 2024. Existing Mint users were migrated to Credit Karma (also Intuit). Mint's full budgeting feature set — category budgets, custom budgets, bills calendar — was not carried over to Credit Karma in full, which is why the ex-Mint user base scattered to Monarch, Copilot, Rocket Money, YNAB, and adjacent tools.
